Janine Swarbrick

Dr Janine Swarbrick is a Patent Director at HGF Limited, one of Europe’s leading Intellectual Property firms. She supports inventors across electronic and computing technologies, to help them understand their innovations and strategically protect their IP to drive value in their business. She is passionate about supporting innovators to achieve their business goals, particularly in emerging technologies and cross-disciplinary innovations that break the mould and shake up traditional tech. Her practice has a focus on MedTech, including FemTech, bioinformatics and AI in healthcare. Before entering the world of IP, Janine enjoyed a career as a nanoscientist. She obtained her PhD from the University of Nottingham followed by a research position at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility in Grenoble, France, studying molecular interactions on surfaces and novel nanomaterials. She has published several articles in this field with collaborators worldwide. Janine is also a keen advocate for empowering women and girls to find a passion for science, holding workshops and supporting careers events at local schools to ignite the spark of curiosity in the next generation of scientists.
