Anna Paola Carrieri

Anna Paola Carrieri is a technical research manager at IBM Research UK and Ireland, based at the STFC's Hartree Centre - Daresbury Lab, UK. Anna leads the Healthcare and Life Sciences team in IBM Research UK. Her team is currently working on developing and applying interpretable/explainable AI technologies, including Foundation Models, for the integrative analysis of multi-omic data and other data types such clinical, experimental data, electronic health records, etc. Her research interests and expertise regard the development and application of AI for healthcare and life sciences. She received her PhD in Computer Science from University of Milan-Bicocca. Her PhD thesis focused on computational problems motivated by the need of understanding the evolution of genomic information starting from data produced by Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies. Prior to that, she received her B.E. Computer Science and M.Sc Computer Science degrees respectively from University of Bari and University of Milan-Bicocca, Italy.
